RealTalk - an anonymous chat counseling service of the DRK by young people for young people!

RealTalk is an innovative peer-to-peer chat counseling service, developed in close collaboration with young people and school social workers, and supported by the German Red Cross (DRK). Our goal: to offer young people a simple, trusting way to talk about their worries and fears without fear of judgment or stigmatization. 

The chat works seamlessly through a platform that guarantees anonymity for young people. Twice a week, they can talk with peers in a safe space—real people their own age who know what it’s like to go through difficult times.

RealTalk is made up of young people between the ages of 16 and 20 who enjoy helping others, listening and providing support when problems arise. 

After training organized by the German Red Cross, they take on a counselling shift about once a month, during which they are supported by our peer mentors if necessary. The whole thing takes place through digital volunteering from home. Supervisions, an annual network meeting and, if possible, further meetings with other peers promote the community and are intended to help with the ongoing development of RealTalk.

You are between 16 and 20 years old, live in Germany, and can write and speak German fluently. 

You have a laptop or computer with internet access that you can use to log in to the RealTalk system from home. 

Do you enjoy helping others and advising young people on their problems and concerns, big or small? 

Are you interested in completing peer counseling training with us and available to take on a counseling shift about once a month?

The aim is for all volunteer peers to take on a counseling shift approximately once a month. One shift lasts 2 hours.
