RealTalk - an anonymous chat counseling service of the DRK by young people for young people!

RealTalk is an innovative peer-to-peer chat counseling service developed in close cooperation with young people and school social workers and supported by the German Red Cross (DRK). Our aim is to offer young people a simple, trustworthy way to talk about their worries and fears without fear of being judged or stigmatized. 

The chat works in an uncomplicated way via a platform that guarantees young people anonymity. Once a week, they can talk to peers in a safe space - real people of the same age who know what it feels like to go through difficult times. 

RealTalk is made up of young people between the ages of 16 and 20 who enjoy helping others, listening and providing support when problems arise. 

After training organized by the German Red Cross, they take on a counselling shift about once a month, during which they are supported by our peer mentors if necessary. The whole thing takes place through digital volunteering from home. Supervisions, an annual network meeting and, if possible, further meetings with other peers promote the community and are intended to help with the ongoing development of RealTalk.

You are between 16 and 20 years old, live in Germany and can write and speak German fluently.

You have a laptop or computer with Internet access that you can use to log into the RealTalk system from home.

Do you enjoy helping others and advising young people with problems and worries, whether big or small?

Would you like to do a peer counselor training course with us and have the time and inclination to take on a counseling shift about once a month?

The aim is for all volunteer peers to take on a counseling shift approximately once a month. One shift lasts 2 hours.
