About the volunteering opportunity
Project NADIYA e.V. - Working together where help is most urgently needed
The war of aggression in Ukraine triggered a humanitarian crisis that continues to this day. In the first chaotic weeks, quick, unbureaucratic help was needed - and this is exactly where Project NADIYA came in: as a spontaneous private initiative, we started in a small warehouse on the Ukrainian border, sorted private donations, coordinated transports and established contacts with local aid organizations.
What began as an improvised aid project is now a registered association with a permanent base in Frankfurt am Main. From here, we regularly collect, pack and ship relief supplies - with full 40-ton trucks directly to the most affected regions in the south of Ukraine. Our focus: supplying particularly vulnerable groups with vital goods such as (baby) food, hygiene articles and medical supplies - right up to the frontline.
But our help does not end with the transportation of relief supplies. Together with local partner organizations, we provide emergency aid in liberated areas. Our aim is to support people who want to stay in their homes despite the destruction. Last year, we were able to make over 500 houses habitable again and give people back some dignity and security.
Over the past two and a half years, we have learned that the support provided to local people can hardly be measured by the number of pallets delivered. It is the renewed hope they feel when they experience that they are not forgotten.
Надія (Nadiya) is the Ukrainian word for hope, which we bring through our projects to those who have long since lost hope.
