About the volunteering opportunity
The Vocal Heroes are looking for committed volunteers to supervise children and young people in their weekly singing! In addition to you, the choir director Victor Rodgriguez and the piano accompanist Artschi Loyan are on site.
We are currently looking for a volunteer supervisor for our location at the Grundschule am Hollerbusch in Hellersdorf to support Victor and Artschi during the rehearsals of the Vokalhelden Minis (1st/2nd grade). Your main tasks will include keeping weekly attendance lists for the choir group and looking after children who are not feeling well during rehearsals. In addition, you can help out as a volunteer at cross-location events and take part in larger concerts in opera houses or concert halls, smaller performances in the neighborhood or choir trips.
We also have regular team days and volunteer meetings where we exchange ideas and grow closer together as a team.
Our choir program brings together around 450 young people aged 6 to 18 at four locations in Berlin (one location consists of several choirs of different age groups) and in the youth choir - regardless of origin or previous knowledge. The children sing a wide range of songs from classical to pop and have the opportunity to be loud and bold together on stages large and small through various performances and projects, including at the Philharmonie Berlin.

Your Tasks
Your main tasks are
- Supervision of the Vokalhelden (children and young people aged 7-18) during special rehearsals or performances (dates will be distributed among all volunteers as time permits)
- Supervision of the Vokalhelden Minis (1st/2nd grade) at our location in Hellersdorf (Thursdays, 14:30-15:30) during rehearsals with our choir director Victor and our piano accompanist Artschi
- after the Minis rehearsal: accompanying the older children (3rd/4th grade) from 15:30-15:45 to Kompass (neighborhood center)
- Participation in team days (we are currently working on our new child protection concept), volunteer meetings once every six months (we meet over coffee and cake, reflect and look at future projects)

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

The Vocal Heroes are a choir program for children and young people. Since it was founded in 2013 by the Berliner Philharmoniker, it has been inspiring young people to sing - no matter where they come from or what language they speak. Today, around 450 children and young people sing in twelve choirs at four locations in Berlin. The annual sing-along concerts for school classes at the Philharmonie Berlin are a highlight.
