Language is the key

The accompanying program brings volunteers and participants (people with refugee and migrant backgrounds) together under various thematic modules for different offers and assignments, such as support, aftercare in apartments, activities, language coaching, interactive cooking, workshops and much more. The project's core values are trust, reliability, personal commitment, respectful interaction and openness towards other cultures. The principle: learning from each other on an equal footing so that people can learn from each other on an equal footing.

And not just to arrive in this country and integrate. It is particularly important to be able to express yourself in order to be understood and lead an independent life.

But all beginnings are difficult, especially learning a new language.

You know this and you felt the same way? Do you speak German and another language fluently and would you like to help other people get started?

Then we look forward to hearing from you! Because we are looking for people who can translate in our project for people with refugee and migrant backgrounds - on site, on the phone and/or when accompanying them to public offices.

We currently have a particular need for the languages Tigrynia, Somali, Arabic, French, Georgian, Turkish, Russian, Chechen and Farsi, but also for many other languages.

You should fulfill the following requirements:

A very good command of German or English and one other language to ensure accurate translation.

a very good ability to deal with closeness and distance to the people you are translating for.

you are translating for. 

Empathy and sensitivity in dealing with people who have had traumatic experiences in order to create trust and build supportive relationships from the very first conversation.

reliability and a willingness to work with everyone without prejudice.

an induction phase by our trained staff is mandatory.
