About the volunteering opportunity
As there is too little living space in Berlin and too few places in shared accommodation, the LAF accommodates refugee families and individuals in hotels and hostels. The outreach social work project supports and advises these people and also aims to connect and integrate them in the Berlin social space! Because that means ARRIVAL!
Your Tasks
We are looking for interested persons for afternoon childcare. The hotel is the Albergo. Nearby is the Preußenpark which, now in spring/summer, also offers nice play opportunities. Painting and handicrafts would also be possible in the dining room once a week in the late afternoon.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
It would be nice if you would like to get involved in the longer term so that the children can experience you as a permanent fixture in their lives. It will certainly take a while for the play afternoon to be accepted, so don't be disappointed if there are few children.
Time required
As the dining room can only be used between 4 and 5 p.m., the weekly arts and crafts and painting sessions should take place then. Games in the park or on a nearby playground are also possible earlier in the afternoon.
Important notice
The LAF requires every employee in shared accommodation to provide proof of a measles vaccination or proof of immunity from a doctor. In addition, an extended police clearance certificate is required (we bear the costs for the extended clearance certificate and we also help with obtaining it.)
