About the volunteering opportunity
ZULA is a Berlin-based non-profit organization that empowers children’s authors and illustrators, especially BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) creators to self-publish their books. Through our work, we combine storytelling, education, and community to empower the next generation.
We are looking for a Working Student – Marketing & Growth to support the growth of our products and our communities.
Your Tasks
As a Marketing & Growth Working Student at ZULA, you help expand our reach and bring our mission to more families, educators, and partners. You work at the intersection of storytelling, campaigns, and community—ensuring that ZULA’s programs and products (like the ZULA App, Reads, Kids Lab, and Own Wor(I)ds) reach the right audiences in meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities
1. Campaign Development & Execution
- Support the creation and rollout of marketing campaigns
- Help promote:
- ZULA Originals Published Books
- Reading Activities
- Book creation
- Events & Partnership
- Contribute to campaign ideas that are creative, playful, and impact-driven.
2. Social Media & Growth Support
- Support growth strategies for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn
- Analyze what content performs well and suggest improvements
- Identify trends and adapt them to ZULA’s mission
3. Audience & Community Growth
- Help define and reach key audiences:
- Parents
- Educators
- Schools & libraries
- Support strategies to grow ZULA’s community and user base
- Contribute to outreach ideas (online & offline)
4. Marketing Insights & Optimization
- Track basic performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth)
- Support simple reporting and insights
- Help test and improve marketing approaches
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Ideally German Native Speaker or C-Level
Required:
Required:
- Student in Marketing, Business, Communication, Media, or similar
- Strong interest in social impact, education, or community building
- Understanding of social media and digital marketing basics
- Creative and proactive mindset
- Strong communication skills (English; German is a plus)
Bonus:
- Experience with campaigns or growth projects
- Basic knowledge of analytics tools (e.g. Instagram Insights, Google Analytics)
- Interest in storytelling, culture, and representation
- Experience working with communities or youth
