About the volunteering opportunity
Our health team to support homeless people is looking for volunteers!
Are you enthusiastic about the idea of the Red Cross and would like to help support homeless people at a local level by providing health services?
Around 10,000 people in Munich have no home of their own, including around 1,700 children. They are homeless and live in emergency accommodation, in mother and child facilities or in clearing houses. Access to medical care and health services is often difficult for them. This is exactly where we come in.
With our volunteer health guides, we want to advise and support families in accommodation in Munich. Our volunteers support residents once a month on Saturdays through various activities and offers in the sense of a holistic health concept on site in the accommodation or through joint activities.
Your Tasks
- Leisure activities for families, children and young people
- Implementation of sports/exercise offers (e.g. walking together, fitness exercises)
- First aid courses for residents
- Help with accessing medical care services
- Accompaniment and language mediation in the healthcare system
- Person of trust for medical issues
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
- Willingness to meet people in homelessness openly
- Enjoy contact with people from different countries and cultures
- Reliability
- Identification with the principles of the Red Cross
- The following language skills are an advantage: Bulgarian, Turkish, Somali, Romanian, Hungarian, Dari, Farsi, Croatian, Greek, Italian, Arabic
- Medical training is required to teach medical content/first aid courses

The Red Cross rescues people, helps in emergencies, provides a community, stands by socially disadvantaged people and watches over international humanitarian law - in Germany and around the world.
The BRK-Kreisverband München works in this sense and is there where other people need help and support.
