Accompanying young people with a life-shortening illness

We support families with young people with life-shortening illnesses from the time of diagnosis, throughout life and beyond death. And "families" means that the focus is just as much on the sick children as on their siblings. Every child or young person who would like support is assigned a volunteer who is there just for them. The lifespans of those affected are as varied as the illnesses themselves, so the focus of our work is life support, knowing well that the young people with the illness will die before their parents.

You regularly spend 2-3 hours with the sick child/young person or their non-ill sibling, doing something, reading, listening or just being there. We won't throw you in at the deep end: you will receive 90 hours of training before we "let you loose" on a family. And during your work, there will be monthly volunteer meetings where you can share your experiences.
