About the volunteering opportunity

Would you like to get involved in development cooperation? Help people who are less fortunate than us? Working with people all over the world and developing sustainable projects together?

Then you've come to the right place. We are the Munich group of the Germany-wide association Engineers Without Borders e.V. and are currently running three projects in technical development cooperation and tutoring from Munich. We are always looking for interested and committed people of all ages and professions (especially non-engineers, such as educators, designers and organizational talents in general).

To give you a better impression of our projects, we briefly summarize here which topics the projects deal with. For more information, please visit our website.

In the first project, we are supporting the construction of a factory in Ghana together with our partner organization Global Mamas to create fair jobs for 200 women.
In the second project in Uganda, we have set ourselves the goal of providing unemployed young people and young adults with the opportunity to train in a handicraft and thus create career prospects by building a vocational school.
In addition to the projects abroad, we are also involved with a project group in Munich in tutoring refugees in technical and scientific subjects in order to support their integration into working life in Germany.

If this appeals to you, please write to us!

Your Tasks

We have a wide range of tasks that you can take on. These depend on the focus of the project and the current project phase. So you can use your existing knowledge or try your hand at something completely new!

To give you a taste, here are a few sample tasks:

  • Collaboration in the development of architectural and structural concepts (e.g. design of school buildings)
  • Collaboration in the development of technical concepts (e.g. construction of dry toilets, conceptual design and improvement of energy supply)
  • Collaboration in the development of educational concepts (e.g. workshops on hygiene)
  • Conceptualization and implementation of tutoring in Munich
  • Support with public relations and fundraising
  • Organization of events, campaigns and stands
  • Having fun at internal team events :-)

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Everyone is welcome!

When you invest your time is up to you. Each project has a group meeting every two week of approx. one and a half hours (voluntary participation), the rest of the time can be freely allocated.

Feel free to write to us if you have any questions!
