About the volunteering opportunity

The ART CRU Berlin gallery in the Kunsthof at Oranienburgerstraße 27, 10117 Berlin is the first Berlin gallery to focus on art by people with disabilities and exceptional psychological experiences. The aim of the gallery is to promote and present these artists, most of whom are self-taught and outside the established art scene. These people often find it difficult or impossible to develop a professional career as an artist. That is why ART CRU focuses on reducing the distance between the established art world and the original and unadulterated works of these artists.

Your Tasks

  • Accompany people with disabilities/mental impairments in their commitment and support them
  • including looking after the art exhibitions (Mitte), archiving works of art (near Südkreuz), maintaining the website (Wedding) and at university events on the topic
  • Help organize the vernissages and finissages
  • Contribute your ideas on how the art of people with disabilities/disorders can be further developed
  • Participate in the commemoration of the mass murder of people with disabilities during the Nazi era in the so-called "euthanasia programs", planned in Tiergartenstr. 4 ("T4-Aktion")
