About the volunteering opportunity
This is a call from BERLINER LESEPATEN
BERLINER LESEPATEN is Berlin's largest volunteer project in the field of education. Every week, around 2,000 reading mentors spend several hours in Berlin schools and daycare centers. With their voluntary work, they strengthen the individual reading and learning skills of over 12,000 children and young people every week - and at the same time prepare them for the future.

Your Tasks
At nursery school, the focus is on reading aloud and promoting language skills. In elementary school, the focus is on developing reading skills. Teachers decide on the content, type and scope of support. Reading mentors do not need any previous specialist knowledge. They do not evaluate and are therefore strong partners for their protégés. Trainees, students, professionals, senior citizens - anyone can take on a reading mentorship. The only requirement is that you have the time and desire to help once a week for two to three hours in a school or daycare center.
