About the volunteering opportunity
More people are living on the streets every year. The number of people living in loneliness, poverty and homelessness is increasing. Housing has long been in short supply. Spaces for people living in poverty are becoming increasingly scarce. The coronavirus pandemic and the constantly rising cost of living have exacerbated the situation.
Far too rarely does anyone take care of these people in special circumstances, talk to them or cook for them.
Obdachlosenhilfe Hannover e. V. helps precisely at this point and, as a non-profit association, would like to make a contribution to better social interaction.

We have realized our dream and created a reliable place where people can meet and sit together over a warm meal, drink (no alcohol!) and chat or sleep.
Our Café Mensch is open 7 days a week - from 7 pm to 7 am during the cold months (November - March) and from 5 pm to 11 pm during the warmer months (April - October).
Your Tasks
Become a part of our mission: Whether on a one-off or regular basis - we look forward to your active support in serving food and drinks at night.
What's needed
Volunteers must be native German speakers.
Anyone can lend a hand with us. All we want from you is an open and respectful approach to all people.

We work daily both during the week and at weekends. In the colder months, we particularly need help with our night shifts.
We have divided the nights into two shifts. One shift is always 6 hours.
