Queer educational work in Bonn

We from SCHLAU Bonn are a volunteer team of queer people who offer workshops on sexual, romantic and gender diversity at schools and youth facilities and educate people about discrimination against LGBTQIA* people. Our own experiences and biographies are an essential part of our workshops. We also take an intersectional approach and address other forms of discrimination such as racism, sexism, ableism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and other forms of discrimination.
As part of the SCHLAU NRW network, we are in contact with other local teams throughout NRW and offer you the opportunity to get in touch with other queers in NRW.

- attend our regular team meetings, team days and game nights
- gain experience in queer educational work, learn to give workshops and work with your biography
- plan events in Bonn to improve queer visibility

- Interest in talking about your own queer biography with young people and in the team
- A discrimination-sensitive and self-critical attitude, especially with regard to other forms of discrimination such as racism, ableism, classism, sexism etc. and their intersections

- Time for training and further education for qualification measures on content, didactics, methods, etc.

How much time you want to invest is up to you and your capacities. Team meetings are held every two weeks (2 hours) and regular attendance is mandatory. The workshop dates are determined by a team survey. A workshop takes about 5-6 hours with preparation and follow-up.

As the workshops mainly take place in schools, you should have time during the week mornings about 1-2 times a month. For your involvement in workshops, SCHLAU NRW provides a allowance for expenses for each workshop you complete.
