About the volunteering opportunity
As part of an individual cultural sponsorship, I am looking for a committed person who would like to take part in cultural and leisure activities with me.
My name is Philipp, I am 29 years old, live with a walking disability and enjoy company on outings, going to the movies, concerts or cycling. For certain activities - especially swimming - I need a little more personal support. I would therefore like someone who is open, empathetic and helpful.
The "project" is very personal and on an interpersonal level and is about spending time together, experiencing culture and perhaps also breaking down small barriers.
The sponsorship can be arranged very flexibly. The important thing is that we get on well together and have fun doing things together.
Your Tasks
The volunteer companion should support me in leisure activities and spend time with me. This includes, for example
- Accompanying me to cultural events (cinema, concerts, philharmonic orchestra)
- Support in planning and carrying out small excursions, e.g. by bike or to events
- Keeping company, exchanging ideas, experiencing something together
- Occasional support with swimming, if desired and by mutual agreement - this is a very personal area where I am dependent on help, e.g. changing clothes or getting into the water safely
It is important to me that the support is open, reliable and respectful, and that we look together at what suits and is comfortable for both sides.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
You don't need any special technical knowledge for this commitment - much more important are
- Reliability and empathy
- Openness in dealing with people with disabilities
- Enjoy doing things together (e.g. movies, culture, excursions)
- Patience and willingness to support, especially with activities such as swimming, where I need a little more help
It would be nice if you are between about 25 and 35 years old so that we are on a similar wavelength.

The commitment can be arranged flexibly. Meetings are arranged according to mutual agreement and personal capacity.

The commitment is intended to be long-term, but we gladly can start by getting to know each other to see if the chemistry is right.

Bürgertreff "Gemeinsam im Kiez leben"
The citizens' meeting place "Gemeinsam im Kiez leben" is an institution of the Cooperative Mensch eG and an inclusive meeting place in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. Since October 2018, the citizens' meeting place has been sponsored by the district of Lichtenberg. As a social meeting place, it is dedicated to the elimination of barriers and the local implementation of the UN Disability Rights Convention. We want to promote inclusion in the neighbourhood. We have various open and inclusive offers in the Bürgertreff and in the Kiez. We have a large network in Lichtenberg and various cooperation partners, such as an inclusive boccia club. We also arrange cultural sponsorships between people with disabilities and/or low income and people interested in culture.
