About the volunteering opportunity

For our accommodation in Bogenhausen, we are looking for committed volunteers who would like to organize a regular youth meeting for Ukrainian young people aged 13 to 16. The meeting should take place every two weeks for about 2-3 hours. The aim is to offer the young people a welcome change from everyday life in the accommodation, to introduce them to the city and to go on small excursions or leisure activities together.

What you can expect:

  • You will accompany a small group of young people on simple, mostly free activities (e.g. walks, parks, neighborhood explorations, public events).

  • You will contribute your own ideas and actively help shape the meetings.

  • Personal initiative and some organizational talent are required - you can help shape the meetings freely and creatively.

  • You will be closely supported by the local social support team and our volunteer coordinator, especially at the beginning or if you are unsure.

Your Tasks

What you should bring with you:

  • Openness, intercultural sensitivity and enjoy working with young people.

  • Knowledge of Ukrainian is important, as some of the young people hardly speak any German.

  • You do not need any previous pedagogical knowledge - motivation, reliability and a good feeling for young people are sufficient.

General conditions:

  • The dates can be arranged flexibly in consultation with you and the young people.

  • An extended certificate of good conduct is required before starting (can be applied for free of charge through us).

  • If required, we will issue a certificate of volunteering for your commitment.

Sounds like something for you? Then get in touch with Alexandra at alschmid@diakonie-muc-obb.de or here via vostel.de - we look forward to hearing from you!

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Curiosity, interest and openness towards young people

Time required

The commitment is location-independent, i.e. the activities take place outside the accommodation - in the city, in parks, museums or at free events.
However, in order to build trust and get off to a good start, 2-3 meetings should take place directly at the accommodation. This will allow the young people to get used to you and motivate them to take part in the excursions. You will of course be supported by the team on site.

Location

Diakonie München und Oberbayern - Innere Mission München e.V.

"Die Innere Mission" helps people with a migration background. Whether as first aid for refugees and asylum seekers or through useful offers for migrants already living in Munich with permanent residence. The employees of our social and migration services often know the challenges from their own experience. They know where to start in order to begin a new life in a foreign country.
