About the volunteering opportunity
What is RealTalk?
RealTalk is an anonymous chat counseling service by young people for young people. Our volunteer peers aged between 16 and 20 offer their peers support with stress, bullying, lovesickness, excessive demands or mental strain - digitally, with a low threshold and in compliance with data protection regulations. The chat works in an uncomplicated way via a platform that guarantees the young people anonymity. Once a week, they can talk to peers in a safe space - real people of the same age who know what it feels like to go through difficult times.

Your Tasks
Become a peer buddy at RealTalk. Young people need you.
Volunteer - digital, low-threshold & meaningful.
You are there for them if they have technical questions or need support in difficult counseling situations. During the counseling shifts, you will be available in the background, conduct a short check-in with the peers at the beginning and conclude the shift together with a short check-out. In this way, you strengthen their confidence and ability to reflect - especially when dealing with challenging issues. You will be trained in advance, receive professional support and become part of an innovative mental health project run by the German Red Cross.
What should you bring with you?
✅ You are at least 21 years old
✅ You have a degree or experience in social work, psychology, education, youth work or comparable fields (e.g. degree, training or several years of professional experience - we will ask for more details under the application link)
✅ You have an interest in mental health, empowerment and youth issues
What will you get?
✨ In-depth training in online counseling, communication and crisis intervention
✨ Further training on topics such as mental health, self-care, communication, etc.
✨ Regular reflection and support appointments
✨ A strong team, professional exchange and further training
✨ A certificate of your commitment to the DRK
