About the volunteering opportunity
As the Deutsche Rheuma-Liga Berlin e.V. (German Rheumatism League Berlin), we are committed to helping people with rheumatic diseases. Rheumatism can actually affect anyone: senior citizens as well as children and (young) adults are affected and suffer from severe joint pain and restricted mobility. As a self-help organization, we offer our support with our wide range of exercise and advice services.
We have our own health center for this purpose: the"rheumarium". rheumarium is a place for movement, encounters and health, where we offer water and dry gymnastics to help our guests prevent and cope with pain.
As part of our weekly courses for children and young people (e.g. water gymnastics for children and young people with rheumatism), we offer an open arts and crafts table in the self-help café. This offer is aimed at siblings or participating children before the course starts - parents are on site during the course and retain the duty of supervision.

Your Tasks
For this creative offer we are looking for a friendly and committed person who:

📦 brings their own ideas for simple, creative craft activities or would like to develop them,
👐 creates a cozy, appreciative space for children with patience and joy.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You don't need any pedagogical training - what's important to us is heart, reliability and enjoyment of creative work with children.

Regularly
Approx. 4 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
The craft table takes place every Friday afternoon from approx. 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
Important notice
You can expect a space for creative participation, a lively meeting place in the self-help café, supported by a dedicated team of full-time staff and volunteers, as well as materials & support from our full-time team.
We also offer you a small expense allowance, as well as guidance from specialists, a lively exchange of experiences with other volunteers, reimbursement of costs incurred and further training and qualification opportunities. You are also covered by our liability and accident insurance and can take part in free excursions and events.
Our premises are barrier-free.

"Rheumatism" is a serious form of disease in many facets. In Germany, almost 17 million people suffer from a rheumatic disease.
Everyone can be affected: from children, to teenagers to younger or older adults.
As a registered association "German Rheumatism League Berlin", we offer those affected help to help themselves. At the center of our work are the four actions: movement, advice, meeting and accompaniment. We support, advise and accompany those affected with a variety of offers as close to home as possible in all districts of Berlin
