The work of the Bürgerstiftung Berlin is supported by the civic commitment and expertise of our more than 500 volunteers. Whether environmental education and language promotion, science, crafts, integration or culture: our projects bring people together and enable social participation - target group-oriented, pragmatic and unbureaucratic.

In the interactive picture book cinema, a story is not read aloud but told by several children together. The pictures of specially selected picture books are projected onto a large screen and the children are encouraged to read the story from the pictures by asking clever questions.

Thanks to the exciting books, the children quickly enjoy telling the story in their own words. The method is equally suitable for children in daycare centers, elementary school and residential facilities, regardless of their current language skills.

Under the guidance of the volunteer, the children practise differentiated expression, new vocabulary, their interpretation and imagination and teamwork on an equal footing. The volunteer's attitude is characterized by respect and recognition of the children's achievements and thus encourages the children to find security and self-confidence in their linguistic expression.

All interested volunteers are offered further training to get them started with interactive picture book cinema. The assignments usually take place in the mornings with daycare groups or school classes. One focus is on supporting children who are learning German.

The Bürgerstiftung Berlin will apply for the extended certificate of good conduct for you.
