About the volunteering opportunity

We are setting up the Lacrima Children's and Youth Bereavement Center in Hanau and look forward to your voluntary commitment.

What we do:

We support grieving children and young people in a very difficult phase of their lives. Nothing shakes children's lives more than the death of a close relative. But children grieve differently to adults. They jump in and out of grief like in puddles, they are sad now and then happy again. Children often don't want to be a burden and hide their grief behind a seemingly carefree surface. It is important that children can show their grief.

We are planning to offer group sessions in Hanau where children can talk about their grief, come together with other children, but also play, laugh and have fun. We will also facilitate discussions for parents and actively support them. Our offer is free of charge.

Your Tasks

How you can get involved with us:

  • We plan group lessons, excursions and events together
  • You will help with the regular, fortnightly group activities that take place in Hanau
  • You support and accompany grieving children, young people and adults after the loss
What you can expect from us:

  • You will be trained by us over three weekends to become a Lacrima bereavement counselor (m/f/d) and receive educational support.
  • You will take part in regular supervision, further education and training provided by external service providers.
