About the volunteering opportunity

In our stores, volunteer teams sell donated items and are thus committed to a fair and sustainable world without poverty. Every year, they give over 3 million items a new lease of life and the funds raised benefit the development work of our organization. As an international emergency relief and development aid organization, we work with people all over the world to combat poverty, oppression and social inequality. We support through
- worldwide emergency and disaster relief
- Project funding and crisis prevention
- global campaigns on the causes of poverty
- Commitment to better political and economic conditions

Your Tasks

Do you have time and want to make a difference? Do you want to make a sustainable commitment to a fair world without poverty and do you like second-hand goods? Then join our great team!
  • As a volunteer in one of our 2 stores in Cologne (Neu & Südstadt), you will work with your team colleagues to keep the store running.
  • Your tasks include accepting, sorting, pricing and presenting donations in kind such as clothing, books, games, household goods and useful items for the home. You will advise customers, operate the till and take care of the store's appearance.
  • Your organizational skills are in demand, whether in everyday store life or during special promotions.
  • You will use your communication skills to pass on the values and vision of our establishment. You will communicate with customers and donors in German.
  • You have the time and desire to get involved, ideally on a long-term basis.
  • In the first 4 trial shifts, you will be familiarized with the various tasks and have the opportunity to decide whether you would like to work with us.
If you like, you are welcome to visit one of our stores to get an impression and get in touch if you have any questions. We would be delighted to welcome you as a volunteer at our facility soon.
