About the volunteering opportunity
Our facility in Cologne Mülheim is one of the oldest youth facilities in Cologne. Children and young people aged 8 to 21 are welcome here. The modernized rooms in the listed building offer table football, billiards, consoles, games, creative materials and a music and sports room. The kitchen and event rooms on the first floor are shared with other facilities.
Your Tasks
We would like to offer our young people a German course. This should be open. Many of our young people speak German poorly or don't know the language at all. We would like to give them the opportunity to change this and learn the basics or expand their knowledge in an informal setting. Our young people speak fluent Turkish.

What's needed
Volunteers must be native German speakers.
- Age 21 - 40 years
- extended certificate of good conduct required
- Empathy and patience in dealing with children and young people
- Turkish is not a must, but would be great
- Enjoy imparting knowledge

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
