About the volunteering opportunity
A group of interested senior citizens currently meets every Wednesday at the Nachbarschaftstreff in Cologne-Buchforst. Tables and seating, technical equipment (large mobile screen, own smartphones / notebooks) and a kitchen are available and can be shared.
Your Tasks
We are looking for you to support a group of 5-12 senior citizens in dealing with smartphones, the Internet, PCs and the like. The main aim is to clarify questions and concerns of the participants and to guide the group in a structured way.
This can take part in form of a "digital consultation hour" (1-to-1), interactively with the entire group or as a mixed format - depending on your preference and the wishes of the participants. It is important that you are well versed in digital topics and can convey content in a low-threshold and age-sensitive way. Of course, you should not neglect to have fun and exchange ideas on an equal footing.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Age (at least) 18 years
- simple certificate of good conduct required (costs will be reimbursed)
- Empathy and patience with senior citizens
- Enjoy imparting digital knowledge in an age-appropriate way

Approx. 2 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
1x weekly to 1x monthly (frequency by arrangement); Wednesdays from 12:00 to 01:30 pm; can be postponed until 04:30 pm on request

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
