About the volunteering opportunity
Hi, we’re Lilipad! We work to build libraries for children who are subject to social exclusion. We have libraries in many countries, as well as several in refugee housing centers across Berlin. We’re always looking for volunteers to drop by our libraries and read with the kids, help with workshops, and more. If you have the time and enthusiasm to build meaningful relationships with the kids at one of our libraries, we’d love to hear from you!
Your Tasks
It is expected that volunteers commit to visiting one of our libraries at least once a month for a minimum of one year and ideally even more. We hope to build meaningful and lasting connections across our communities, and such connections, particularly with children, take time and consistency.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Experience working with children is great, but not required. Equally, language skills in languages such as Arabic, Ukrainian, and Turkish are very helpful, but also not required.
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, during the day
Library visits are typically an hour to two hours, weekly or bimonthly. Generally, the best time to stop by the libraries is in the afternoon.
Important notice
If the timings required for this position don’t work, but you’re still interested in getting involved with our team, please reach out! We can always use help with one off events, workshops, and in our core team as well.
Also please note that we are a small team of volunteers, and therefore our response time to applications can vary.
