The task of the association consists in housing security and - procurement for persons, with whom homelessness is imminent or already given, and to promote their social integration. In addition, the association has been commissioned by the City of Frankfurt with the central procurement of accommodation (ZVU) since 1993. The aim is to prevent homelessness.More about the organisation
For the coming garden season we are looking for volunteers who have time and desire to participate in the Intercultural Garden.
"In Afghanistan I know what can be planted and grows well, but here in Germany ...." says an Afghan resident from the Flinschstraße shelter. He looks around helplessly. That's how it is for some who have been cultivating a raised bed in the GelaGarten since last year.
Therefore, we are looking for people who would like to be creatively involved in the development of the garden project, who enjoy gardening and who are available once a week for two to three hours to help the participants in gardening with advice and action. Since the project is at the very beginning, many ideas can still be introduced and implemented.
Together we can turn the GelaGarten into a flowering and productive project for young and old. With the GelaGarten we would like to create a place where people would like to spend their time on warm summer evenings, a place that invites as an intercultural meeting point to common celebrations and where strangers can become friends.
Once a week for two to three hours, help the participants with words and deeds in the garden. Since the project is at the very beginning, many ideas can still be introduced and implemented
You should be open to people from different cultural backgrounds and enjoy intercultural communication. Knowledge of vegetable and fruit growing would also be an advantage.
Once a week for two to three hours, you will be able to assist the participants in gardening with advice and and have a desire to help shape the project.
Please note: For this volunteering opportunity, you need German skills on the level „Medium German skills“.
Since many children participate in the garden project, an extended certificate of good conduct is absolutely necessary.
Your support is needed on a long-term basis.
Am I covered by accident and/or casualty insurance during the project?
For this project, we ask you to arrange an individual meeting.
