About the volunteering opportunity
-
Snack making training for women in the Balkhu slum, Kathmandu: We are giving 60 single mothers access to free, two-month training in Nepali snack making, including 15 days of entrepreneurship training. In this way, we are creating opportunities for them to set up their own small business or find employment - and thus provide for their families independently.
- Mental health workshops in rural areas of Nepal: Together with our local partner HAMI, we design workshops in rural areas for young people and older people to reduce the stigmatization of mental illness through education. Topics include mental illness, resilience and dealing with crises and stress. People are also given the opportunity to take advantage of psychological counseling sessions.
Your Tasks
- Community management in line with our Ashavadi philosophy: respectful, committed and supportive.
- Content creation & sharing: You regularly post self-created articles and share current information directly from our partner projects in Nepal.
- Network building: You build long-term and trusting relationships with new cooperation partners.
- Increasing reach: You implement targeted measures to increase our social media presence.
What's needed
- Creativity and a good feel for content: You know how to create exciting, target group-oriented posts and design appealing visual content.
- Experience with social media platforms: You know your way around Instagram and Facebook and may already have experience managing social media channels.
- Strong communication skills: You enjoy writing and have a talent for conveying messages clearly and effectively.
- Initiative and reliability: You work independently, like to get stuck in and don't lose track of multiple tasks.
- Team spirit and openness: You are a real team player and contribute your ideas constructively.
- Interest in social commitment: You want to support the people in Nepal and make a real difference with your commitment.
- Basic knowledge of image editing or design tools (e.g. Canva) is a plus, but not a must - we are also happy if you would like to develop your skills in this area.
Time required
Important notice
- A meaningful and effective task: Your commitment is not only fun, but also makes a significant contribution to the success of our project in Nepal. At the same time, you will gain valuable experience that will give you a real advantage in future job applications.
- A certificate for your social commitment that officially recognizes your valuable work.
- A warm and open team in which openness, appreciation and self-reflection are a matter of course.
- Annual team events: Get to know us personally and join us in May 26 to become part of our community!
- Individual induction and support: At the beginning, we will support you 1:1 and make sure that you feel safe and comfortable. As soon as you are ready, you will be able to manage our social media channels independently.
- Exchange with our project partner in Nepal: You will have the opportunity to take part in regular calls and - depending on the opportunity - also make personal contact with our partners.
