About the volunteering opportunity
Dear volunteers,
Would you like to volunteer around Christmas and/or New Year's Eve and New Year's Day?
We already have enough volunteer support for the Christmas events. We are very grateful for that.
However, there are four institutions that still need support around the vacations and festive periods in order to maintain and organize normal operations:
Your Tasks
- Our emergency shelter at the container station still needs volunteer support with food preparation and serving from 29.12 up to and including 03.01.2026. We are looking for 2-3 people per shift. - Our Bahnhofsmission am Zoo needs volunteers to help prepare and serve food from 27.12. up to and including 01.01.2026. There are three shifts (07:30-12:00 am; 11:30 am -05:00 pm and 04:30 09:30 pm) for which we are looking for 2-3 volunteers per shift. - Our Lehrter Straße overnight shelter is looking for 2 more volunteers for December 30, 4 more volunteers for December 31 and 5 more volunteers for January 1 to prepare and serve food. - Our Kopenhagener Straße emergency shelter is still looking for 2 volunteers each for 31.12. and 01.01.2026 to prepare and serve meals. What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Expected attitude: You are convinced that every person has an inalienable dignity and are prepared to act in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the Berlin City Mission. This includes, among other things, that discriminatory behavior such as racism, sexism or homophobia has no place here. You are also respectful of the Christian faith as well as other religions and world views.
