About the volunteering opportunity
Friends of the Elderly e. V.
We are part of an international volunteer organization founded in France called "les petits frères des Pauvres", which is committed to helping elderly people who are affected or threatened by loneliness and isolation. Our organization has been active in Europe since 1946 and is now also active in North America. It also has consultative status with the United Nations (UN).
Unfortunately, loneliness and isolation are a reality for many elderly people. If their relatives do not have time or live far away, their friends have already passed away and their own mobility may be limited, many elderly people lead an isolated life in our midst. By arranging visiting partnerships, the association wants to give old people hope and courage to face life again - and enable younger people to make contact with the older generation.

Your Tasks
In such a partnership, volunteers visit an elderly person at least once a month, usually in their home - just to talk, laugh, play puzzles or eat cake. More active "old friends" also have the opportunity to go for a walk or take short trips.
