About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for an empathetic, Turkish-speaking female volunteer for a woman with refugee experience, who will accompany and support her regularly.
E. lives in accommodation in Munich and suffers from severe anxiety and a very reduced drive. She finds it difficult to make contacts independently, attend appointments or find her way around the city.
The aim of the commitment is to guide E. step by step towards more security and independence in everyday life through a reliable, appreciative relationship. Through joint activities, encouragement and practical exercises, she should learn to find her way around better and develop confidence in her own abilities.
The volunteer will meet her once a week, starting immediately. We are looking for a Turkish-speaking woman who enjoys personal 1:1 support.
Your Tasks
- Proactive contact and building a reliable relationship
- Weekly meetings (in the accommodation or outside - if possible with pick-up, as E. has difficulties finding addresses)
- Joint discussions, walks and short excursions in Munich
- Visits to cultural events or initiatives for refugees (e.g. language cafés, cooking events etc.) - we will of course give you all the contacts and addresses here
- Practical "everyday life training":
- Finding and understanding addresses
- Finding connections with the MVV and using them together
- Step-by-step practice for more independent orientation
- Accompaniment to important appointments if required
With your commitment, you give time, stability and new perspectives - and support a woman in shaping her everyday life more confidently. 💛

Important notice
A prerequisite for working at Diakonie is the presentation of proof of measles immunity, e.g. vaccination card and an extended police clearance certificate
