About the volunteering opportunity
The Berlin Marathon will take place on Sunday, 29.03.2026. Before the race, the runners wear warm clothing. Until 2022, these were simply left in the starting area and disposed of. This is clothing that we urgently need to equip homeless people. That is why we are now cooperating with Komm und Sieh gGmbH, the inclusion company of Berliner Stadtmission, to rescue these clothes. We want to collect as much of this clothing as possible for our clothing store and return it to the textile cycle. We are now looking for 50-60 helping hands!
The inclusive company "Komm&Sieh" runs four second-hand neighborhood stores, the TEXTILHAFEN with a material pool, the upcycling label WaterToWine, the clothing store, logistics kitchen and laundry for homeless people and helps with professional apartment liquidations. The proceeds from "Komm&Sieh" support the social projects of the Berlin City Mission.
Your Tasks
Action: For the Berlin Marathon, we need reliable support who will be at the event location on time. You will collect the participants' clothing and pack it into the garbage cans provided. This is physically demanding work. You will receive all important information in advance from the contact person Julia Voll.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Requirements: You are physically resilient. You can communicate well in German. You are friendly and open towards the donors and our team. The minimum age for this volunteer position is 16 years.
Time required
Once
On weekends, during the day
Time required: one-off approx. 3-4 hours
When: 29.03.2026 from 08:15 a.m. to approx. 11:30 a.m.

Where: Starting area of the Berlin Marathon, near the Brandenburg Gate (exact meeting point will be communicated after registration)
