About the volunteering opportunity
We are setting up a visiting service in our sheltered facility for people with dementia - and are looking for committed volunteers who would like to give their time.
People with dementia often experience the world differently. Sometimes quiet, sometimes lively, sometimes full of memories. Your job is not to correct or explain - but to be there. To listen. To go with them. Empathize.
Your Tasks
You can get involved however it suits you - at any time of day:
- Accompaniment at mealtimes
- Going for walks together
- Spending time in the garden
- Reading aloud, telling stories, listening to music
- Being creative or simply laughing together
- Individual visits and personal attention
Just one hour can change someone's day.
You will be prepared for your task and receive professional support. You don't need any previous experience - just openness, patience and the joy of genuine encounters.

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

Support is desired for 2-3 hours a day.
Working hours are possible between 8 am and 7 pm.

Important notice
Not required:
- Nursing training or previous experience in dealing with dementia
- The decisive factor is the willingness to put your heart into it and get involved in genuine encounters.
And we will be offering an accompanying training course for volunteers in the area from the fall.
