About the volunteering opportunity
Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World. Doctors of the World is committed to ensuring that all people everywhere can assert their right to health - with medical aid and political work.
In the open.med berlin-lichtenberg project, we advise and care for people without health insurance or with difficult access to the healthcare system during anonymous and free consultation hours. The majority of our patients belong to vulnerable groups. In addition to medical care, we support these people with socio-legal and psychosocial advice. The main aim of the project is to (re)integrate patients into the regular healthcare system.
Your Tasks
We are looking for volunteers to assist with our medical consultation hours. We would like 1-2 services of 3 to 4 hours per month. We have fixed duty rosters, so it is easy to plan ahead.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
To support our team during consultation hours, we are now looking for volunteers in the following areas
- Healthcare professionals and nurses
- Medical students
- Emergency/rescue paramedics
- Medical assistants
- or people with comparable qualifications / professional experience in the medical field
Your profile
- You have basic computer skills
- You identify with the objectives and values of Doctors of the World e.V.
- You have time capacity on consultation days:
- Monday 11-15 h
- Wednesday 14-18 o'clock
- A high degree of empathy and sensitivity towards people in precarious situations
- You enjoy working in a team
