About the volunteering opportunity
The exhibition for the 30th anniversary of the Carnival of Cultures aims to examine the complications of self-staging and its instrumentalization, as well as to explore the significance of difference and cultural diversity for a post-migrant society. It recognizes both the radiance and the critical dimensions of this Berlin tradition.
The exhibition, conceived as an artistic and documentary anchor point, presents the diverse actors who have voluntarily participated in the Carnival of Cultures for decades and sheds light on the strategies and methods of different generations with reference to questions of (in)visibility in the Federal Republic of Germany.

As a participatory project, the Carnival of Cultures coordinates an energetic four-day street festival with many artists, actors and groups, as well as the street parade on Pfingst Sunday in the middle of Berlin-Kreuzberg (around Hallesches Tor underground station).
