Everyday Support for People Who Need Care

The Everyday Support Program (AUA for short) is designed to help people who need care maintain their independence. To this end, recreational activities are organized and a home care service is provided. On the one hand, I am looking for dedicated volunteers for the in-home care service who can support people in their daily lives. Nursing care is not part of this volunteer work. 

I’m also looking for volunteers for support groups that I’d like to offer in Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf. The idea here is to provide support to a small group of people (mostly with a care level designation) for 2–3 hours once a week. This can involve conversation, singing, or playing games, but you’re also welcome to bring your own interests into the group. 

Before you begin your volunteer work, you must complete training in daily living support in accordance with Section 45a of SGB XI. 

Please note that reliability is extremely important when working with people who need care. Therefore, please only apply if you can consistently commit to this. Of course, you’ll have the opportunity to try it out beforehand to see if this volunteer role is a good fit for you.

The Everyday Support Program (AUA for short) offers a home care service. In addition to Lichtenberg, the care service is also available in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. This can be one or two times a week for a few hours. Services typically include accompanying the person to doctor’s appointments or to run errands. However, the time spent together can also be devoted to creative activities or simple memory exercises. If you’re musically inclined, you can also contribute your talents, depending on your interests. As described, nursing care is not part of the service. 

There are no specific requirements for volunteering. What’s important is an interest in working with (older) people, empathy, and reliability. You’ll receive training for the role. In addition, I’ll be there to support you as a professional, and we’ll discuss everything important during monthly team meetings. 

You will need an extended certificate of good conduct, which can be obtained free of charge from the volunteer office. Regular participation in the monthly team meetings is also required.
