About the volunteering opportunity
at an international workcamp in Germany, young people between the ages of 16 and 26 from all over the world come together to work on a charitable project for two to three weeks, gain valuable experience and have lots of fun.
As a workcamp leader, you will be a member of an international group that organizes its own daily workcamp routine. On the other hand, you take on special responsibility for certain areas, e.g. for the initial phase of the workcamp, for organizational matters, with regard to supervision or as a contact person for our project partners and the ijgd.

Your Tasks
Your tasks:
- (optional) Participation in a training seminar for prospective workcamp leaders
- Supporting the group in everyday life at the workcamp (cooking groups, leisure activities, etc.)
- Communication with the responsible ijgd office and our local project partners
- Administrative tasks (writing reports, filling out lists, accounting)

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You need advanced knowledge of German and English for this volunteering program.
- Juleica or ijgd training seminar for workcamp leadership
- German & English skills
- Depending on the camp: driving license, ability to ride a bike, etc.
Time required
Project-based
the workcamps usually last between 2 and 4 weeks. The group leader must be on site for the entire duration of the camp.

- Intercultural learning: Dealing with cultural diversity and prejudices, promoting openness, understanding and appreciation of diversity.
- Gender equality and sexual diversity: Raising awareness of gender and sexual diversity, promoting equal rights, self-determination and mutual acceptance.
- Anti-racism, anti-discrimination: Reflecting on own prejudices and social power relations, working against all forms of discrimination.
- Political education: Promotion of an active democracy through critical thinking, discussions about social structures and support for political decision-making in the context of volunteer work.

The ijgd has been organizing volunteer services since 1949. We are an independent non-profit association for international youth work, a recognized independent youth welfare organization and one of the largest and oldest workcamp organizations in Germany.
