About the volunteering opportunity

What is the 2026 Day of Honor?
To mark the birthday of our Basic Law, countless participatory activities will take place throughout Germany from May 16-31, 2026, culminating on the Day of Honor on May 23.

What is #everynamecounts about?
Together with Arolsen Archives, we invite you to take part in the largest digital memorial to the victims and survivors of National Socialism from May 19 - 31, 2026. Over 17.5 million documents are already in the archive as scans, but still need to be transferred to the database so that they can be found and viewed worldwide.

By taking part, you are actively engaging with the past and sending an important signal for respect, diversity and democracy in the present.

Your Tasks

Over 400,000 volunteer supporters have helped so far. We have already processed more than 7 million documents together.
Help, it's very easy. Just 5 minutes is enough for a document to become a new building block in the digital monument.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
You need a screen that is at least as big as a tablet. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use a smartphone.

How it works
Send us a short message if you would like to take part. We will send you all the background information about the project as well as instructions for your participation. This will allow you to take part at your own pace.

Important notice

If you are interested in a joint kick-off event at the start of the campaign period. Why don't you drop by the outreach event on 19.05.26, where we will give a thematic introduction and be available to talk to you in person.

Location

This project is location independent.
