About the volunteering opportunity
Mission Flood the zone with trust - our response to fake news about the local and state elections in September! Wherever elections are held, misinformation is in high season. It unsettles, divides and influences decisions. Do something about it with us: together, visibly and trustworthily!
Join us on our mission - no matter where you live: together we will check news for trustworthiness using our trust-checking approach, flood comment columns with verified information and clarify known manipulation techniques - in our personal environment, on social media and everywhere else where misinformation makes waves.
Be part of the codetekt community!
You will learn to recognize manipulation more quickly, get simple tools for counter-speech and become part of a community that supports each other. It doesn't matter where you live - we meet regularly online on Discord! No previous experience is necessary.
Your Tasks
These are opportunities to get involved:
- Mobilize people and invite them to join in.
- Check messages for trustworthiness with our trust-checking platform.
- Find typical misinformation and collect counterarguments
- Raise awareness of misinformation - post trust checks or codetekt stickers and gifs on social media.
- Tell people about our trust-checking approach and common manipulation techniques - help people around you to strengthen their news literacy.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
The only thing that matters is that you want to support our mission: to stand up against misinformation.
