Become a skipper on the LeineLos!
Are you a good listener without having to use too many words?
Are you able to give them a boost with a game, a conversation or a bit of support?
Would you like to be a reliable source of support for young people during a challenging time and accompany them on their journey?
Then come on board the LeineLos!
From fall 2026, the DIAKOVERE Annastift in Kleefeld will offer a new voluntary service within the interdisciplinary multimodal pain therapy for children and adolescents. LeineLos will accompany young patients with chronic pain during their stay in hospital, which will last several weeks. In addition to physical complaints, many of them also experience psychosocial stress or challenges at school.
As a skipper on the LeineLos, you give time, guidance and attention. You provide support in everyday life, listen, are there reliably and create small islands of lightness - for example in school tasks, in conversations or during leisure activities together.
Together, we want to help young people have positive experiences during their stay, strengthen their participation and give them the feeling that they don't have to find their own way.
And if you feel like it, you can even help shape LeineLos from the very beginning and contribute your ideas to the development of this new project.
This voluntary position offers you the opportunity to accompany young people in an important phase of their lives, to become part of a committed team and to gain new experiences yourself. We also offer a variety of training courses and professional support.

Your Tasks
- Accompaniment and support with school materials
- Leisure and activity activities (games, creative activities, discussions)
- Motivation and social support during the therapy stay
- Contact person in everyday life and supportive presence
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Enjoy working with children and young people (8-18 years, some older)
- Empathy, patience and an appreciative attitude
- Ability to get in touch with troubled young people
- Sensitivity in dealing with psychosocial stress and chronic illnesses
- Own emotional stability and reliability, assertiveness
- Resilience in challenging situations
- Ability to recognize and professionally maintain boundaries
- Openness to guidance and collaboration in a multi-professional team
desirable:
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Initial experience in the psychosocial, educational or health sector
- Interest in pain therapy, mental health or clinical work
- Creativity and flexibility in organizing contacts and activities
- Experience in learning support or support with school tasks

The assignments take place after the regular therapy program in the afternoon from 3:30 / 4:00 pm. or in the early evening and on weekends. Regular assignments are desirable, e.g. if you could take over a fixed weekday.
Important notice
Because we are a hospital, we need proof of existing measles protection and because you will be working with our wards, an extended certificate of good conduct!
