About the volunteering opportunity
Guter Grund is looking for volunteer support for organizing, campaigning and local networking.
We are committed to protecting water as a common good, strengthening democratic control over natural resources and supporting local people in organizing against non-transparent industrial projects. We are currently working in Baruth/Mark, among other places, where we are focusing on groundwater, transparency and the planned expansion of Red Bull/Rauch production.
What is it about?
We are looking for committed people who want to gain practical experience in campaigning and organizing. Together we build up local contacts, talk to people on the ground, support a citizens' initiative, develop public relations work and help to turn justified concern into concrete social power.
This commitment is ideal for people who are interested in climate justice, water, democracy, the common good, rural areas, social movements or political campaigns.
What you bring with you
What you bring with you
You are a good fit for us if you:
- Are interested in socio-ecological issues
- enjoy talking to people or would like to learn how to do so
- can work independently and with commitment
- are open to rural areas and local perspectives
- Want to gain practical campaigning experience
- work in a respectful, solidary and team-oriented manner
Previous experience in political work, organizing, communication or environmental policy is helpful, but not a prerequisite.
What you learn with us
At Guter Grund you will gain insight into real campaign work and organized activism. You can gain in-depth practical experience in
- Community organizing
- Campaign planning
- political communication
- Power and stakeholder analysis
- Interviewing
- Public relations
- Cooperation with citizens' initiatives
- Development of voluntary structures
We work strategically, but with a low threshold. You will not be left on your own, but will be introduced to the work and supported according to your interests.
Scope of time
The amount of time is flexible. It would make sense to volunteer for 3 to 6 months so that you can really get to grips with the work.
As a rough guide, 2 to 5 hours per week would be helpful. There is also the occasional opportunity to work on site, for example in Baruth/Mark. Most of the work can be done remotely.
Location
Remote / Berlin / Baruth/Mark
Part of the work takes place digitally. We regularly travel to Baruth/Mark for organizing missions, meetings or campaigns. On-site participation is welcome, but not mandatory for all tasks.
Why take part?
Your participation helps local people to stand up for their water, their livelihoods and democratic co-determination. Together, we want to show that local concerns do not have to remain isolated and that real social power can arise from conversations, trust and good organization.
About us
Guter Grund is a young initiative that campaigns for water as a common good, regenerative agriculture, regional supply and democratic control over natural resources. We combine local organizing work with campaigns, public relations and solidarity support for citizens' initiatives.
