About the volunteering opportunity

seniorpartner in School - Bundesverband e.V. supports children and young people in resolving conflicts in a non-violent way, thereby strengthening social skills, self-confidence and good cooperation in schools. Our volunteer school mediators are present at schools, listen, accompany and create spaces in which young people can develop their own solutions. SiS has been growing nationwide for over two decades and is now active in 14 state associations with over 1,500 mediators at around 460 schools.

For the establishment of a new location in Stuttgart, we are looking for a committed volunteer founding team of 3-5 people to develop and set up the location together with the Baden-Württemberg state association and the federal association.

Your Tasks

you shape the Stuttgart location together and take on different specialist areas depending on your interests and experience. This includes in particular
  • Establishment and further development of the local site structure.
  • Recruiting, supporting and retaining volunteer mediators. Organizing and supporting the training of new mediators.
  • Acquisition, support and cooperation with schools.
  • Fundraising and establishing contacts with sponsors, partners and supporters.
  • Press and public relations work to raise the visibility of the location in the region.
  • Support with documentation, communication and organizational processes.
  • Close cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg state association and the federal association.
  • Committed participation in the site management team, which can develop independently in the long term.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
  • Enjoy lifelong learning and taking responsibility.
  • Empathic and appreciative attitude towards children, interest in social commitment and volunteer work.
  • Ability to work in a team, reliability and a hands-on mentality.
  • Strong communication skills and openness in contact with schools, volunteers and network partners.
  • Ideally experience in one or more areas such as school, organization, business, mediation, fundraising or public relations.
  • An advantage: IT skills, ideally in MS 356 (Outlook, Teams, Word).

Seniorpartner in School sees itself as a bridge between young and old (55+). We train you free of charge to become a school mediator, for which you volunteer as a senior partner 3-4 hours/week in a team at a school and support children and young people to overcome their conflicts independently and with their own solution strategies. As a member of the association, we also support you with supervision and further training relevant to schools.

You can find us in 14 German states.
