About the volunteering opportunity
Help older adults navigate the digital world more easily and learn how to use smartphones, computers, and other devices!
Many older adults would like to use digital devices—smartphones, tablets, messaging apps, and online services—but feel unsure or left on their own.
The Digital Mentors project connects them with dedicated volunteers who help them access the digital world step by step.

The goal is digital independence, confidence, and the joy of exploring new things.
Your Tasks
Your Responsibilities:
- Providing patient, clear guidance on how to use digital devices
- Support with everyday digital tasks
- WhatsApp / Messenger
- Taking and sending photos
- Installing apps
- Booking online appointments
- Secure passwords
- Using Wi-Fi
- Support for seniors at their own pace
- Encouraging seniors to try things on their own
- Teaching digital safety (scams, fake emails, data protection)
- Schedule sessions according to your availability, ideally once a week for 2 hours
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Patience and empathy are especially important for this role—particularly when questions are asked repeatedly. You should also enjoy interacting with older adults.
Basic knowledge of how to use a smartphone is helpful so you can provide support with minor questions or uncertainties.

The time commitment is flexible. Each volunteer can decide for themselves how much time they would like to or are able to contribute. Whether on a regular or occasional basis—the important thing is that the volunteer work fits well into your daily life and brings you joy.
Important notice
As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team. There’s a designated contact person on site and plenty of opportunities to connect with others.
