About the volunteering opportunity
Volunteer at the K-DW Social Department Store—for sustainability, social participation, and an inclusive community in Memmingen
The Diakonisches Werk (K-DW) department store in Memmingen is no ordinary department store. Here, sustainability, social commitment, and active inclusion come together—all under one roof. Donated goods in very good condition find new owners, and people with mental health conditions are given the opportunity to participate in the workforce.
As a volunteer, you’ll be right in the thick of things and actively help shape this special place.
Your Tasks
A variety of job roles—there’s something for everyone here!
- Receiving and sorting donated goods
- Merchandise display and pricing
- Assisting with sales and interacting with customers
- Maintenance duties and handyman skills
You’ll be working in a diverse, welcoming team of full-time staff, other volunteers, and participants in part-time income-generating projects. Every helping hand counts here—and every day brings new encounters and small moments of success.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
All it takes is a love of working with people, a desire for variety, and the belief that well-preserved items deserve a second chance.
