About the volunteering opportunity
Free Online Workshop Series: Combating Online Hate – Shaping Democracy in the Digital Age
More and more volunteers are facing hostility online. This is shown by recent studies from the BKA and the Technical University of Munich. Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms play a central role in this.
Are you involved in volunteer work or local politics and want to know how to manage your social media presence in a way that’s professional, effective for public outreach, and secure at the same time?
This is where our new project, “Safe Engagement: Strengthening Digital Democracy in Politics and Volunteering,” comes in. Funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, we’re offering a free online workshop series that provides practical guidance on how to recognize and counter digital attacks and secure your communication channels. The workshops take place entirely online and are free of charge.
Workshop dates:
August 18 through September 10, every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
or
November 2 through 26, every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
You can also find more information in the attached flyer
We would be delighted if you could participate and share this opportunity with your network.
Thank you very much and best regards from Düsseldorf

Sicher engagiert
"Sicher engagiert" is an online training program for volunteers and elected representatives from city councils, district parliaments and state parliaments. The digital workshops provide low-threshold training in resilience and confidence to counter online hate and create safe online spaces. In addition, skills are taught to shape social media as a place for political communication and participation.
