About the volunteering opportunity
On July 30, Tierschutz Ludwigsfelde e.V. will celebrate its 3rd anniversary! Our role in Ludwigsfelde and the surrounding area has grown significantly over the past year, and so have our responsibilities.
We help animals in need in Ludwigsfelde and the surrounding area—but our reach now extends far beyond the Teltow-Fläming district. We want to give animals a voice so that fewer animals have to suffer, so they’re cared for in a way appropriate to their species, and so more people and communities take notice when animals need help. They don’t have a lobby, but they have us. And anyone who knows us knows we don’t give up easily.
Last year, we responded to over 400 calls to help cats, hedgehogs, birds, and occasionally other animals. We neutered numerous strays last year to help curb the cat crisis. Most recently, we were able to demonstrate our perseverance during the rescue of Mercedes, a little female kitten. You can find the full story on our website.

Your Tasks
To continue responding to all emergencies, we need help. We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about contributing to our daily animal welfare work.
About 20 people are already helping us at our feeding stations for our more than 65 stray cats; many others provide transportation services, handle handyman or IT tasks, assist with projects, the flea market, and rescue operations, conduct pre-adoption visits, manage social media, and much more.
Of course, we’re also happy to welcome foster homes that have received training in caring for birds, cats, or hedgehogs (preferably with §11 certification)!
We have the right “job” for everyone—that’s for sure!
What matters most to us is a love for animals, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
The same goes for the skills and requirements.

As a nonprofit organization, we have been caring for animals in need in Ludwigsfelde since 2023.
Every year, there are many animal emergencies in and around Ludwigsfelde. We are the central point of contact for pets living on the streets, who have gone missing, or who have been abandoned. We care for them or take them into our care so that our members can nurse them back to health, locate their owners, or find them responsible homes. Our hedgehog rescue center is also growing steadily.
