About the volunteering opportunity

For over 30 years, Lichterkette e.V. in Munich has been working to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and intercultural exchange. With our current campaign, “Lichterkette vor Ort,” we’re heading directly into Munich’s city districts. We’re organizing local events to bring people together, highlight diversity, and foster dialogue. We’re looking for creative support to help us bring this campaign to life online!

Your Tasks

Your Responsibilities
• On-site content production: Covering our events in Munich’s neighborhoods and recording video footage (using a smartphone or your own equipment).
• Street interviews: Actively approaching passersby and event attendees for short interviews on the topic of living together in Munich.
• Post-production: Independently editing the footage into Instagram Reels, including adding captions and syncing audio.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
What You Bring to the Table
• Degree in media studies: Currently pursuing a degree in media studies, journalism, communication design, film, or a related field at a college or university in Munich.
• Practical skills: Experience creating short videos for social media storytelling.
• Openness & communication skills: No hesitation about conducting short interviews in public spaces.
• Reliability: Ability to manage your own schedule and meet deadlines for posts.

• Creative freedom: The opportunity to independently bring your own video ideas to life, experiment with different formats, and help shape the campaign’s visual style.
• Network: Insight into the structure of a Munich-based NGO and connections to key players in the local cultural scene.
