About the volunteering opportunity
Democracy needs you! It shouldn’t just take place at the ballot box or within old institutions—it must reach people right where they are.
The initiative “mehr als wählen e.V.” is a Frankfurt-based organization dedicated to strengthening democratic participation and engagement beyond mere election cycles. To make this a reality, we built the “DemokratieWagen”—a 20-meter-long public bus that travels the streets of Frankfurt as a mobile space for experiencing a diverse and vibrant democracy. It is available to all civil society actors who want to make our society more democratic, and it brings politics directly to the city’s various neighborhoods.
Our school tour kicks off in September, and we’re looking for 3 dedicated young people to join our team as Democracy Coordinators!
Your Tasks
What you'll be doing:
🔹 Live workshops: Participate in 5–7 full-day school visits with the Democracy Van, which typically take place from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
🔹 Hands-on facilitation: Learn through direct application (“learning by doing”) as a peer coordinator by facilitating small-group debates and leading interactive role-playing exercises (simulation games) right in the schoolyards.
🔹 Content Development: Help design the workshop agendas and finalize discussion topics relevant to young people as the tour progresses.
🔹 Video production: Plan videos with us and record footage during the workshops to capture and amplify the voices of young people.
🔹 Reflection: Participate in monthly meetings to reflect on your facilitation experiences and document your personal professional development.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Your requirements:
✅ No formal prior knowledge required—just motivation and a keen interest in democracy!
✅ German and English language skills at a minimum B2 level are required.
✅ Must live in or be available in Frankfurt am Main or the greater Rhine-Main region.
