About the volunteering opportunity
From October 24 to 31, 2026, we’ll be holding a one-week training course for aspiring group leaders (Juleica training). To ensure that our approximately 20 participants can focus entirely on learning, we need your help in the kitchen. You’ll prepare meals for the group and make sure everyone is well taken care of. Whether you’re working alone or as part of a well-coordinated kitchen team—we’d love to have your help! Your involvement will play a crucial role in making the training week a success. Your Tasks
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and preparing breakfast, hot lunches, and dinner
- Providing small snacks for in between meals (e.g., fruit, cookies, or cake)
- Planning meals and organizing grocery shopping
- Cooking in the self-catering wing of the Haus Lankau school camp
A minibus is available for grocery shopping. It would be helpful if you could set aside time for a larger initial shopping trip on October 23.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
You should enjoy cooking for groups and be able to plan, prepare, and serve meals independently. Experience with group catering is preferred. Meals should be mostly vegetarian or vegan.

Here's what you can expect:
- A week of cooking for a motivated group of young, dedicated people
- Interaction with people from various youth organizations in Hamburg
- the occasional kitchen party (see photo)
- an expense allowance of just under €100 per day
- a fully equipped open self-catering kitchen
During the training period (October 24–31), you can, of course, also stay overnight at the accommodation, and
