About the volunteering opportunity
A client of our home care service would like a regular visiting service so she can have conversations. The woman (born in 1957) has recently been through a lengthy hospital stay and uses a wheelchair. Due to her limited mobility, she is currently unable to leave her apartment, but would like to have some variety in her life, have conversations, have coffee with someone, or even play a game now and then.
Your Tasks
- Regular visits to the lady (once a week or more often, if possible)
- Respond empathetically to her stories and memories
- Organizing games or other recreational activities as needed
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Empathy and patience when working with older adults, especially those with dementia
- Willingness to adapt flexibly to the individual needs and abilities of seniors and to provide them with appropriate support
- Reliability and punctuality
