About the volunteering opportunity
To help the younger generation achieve greater social participation and public visibility, Berlin-based TINCON gGmbH has been organizing free conferences on digital youth culture since 2016 - by and for people between the ages of 13 and 25. Speakers pass on their skills and knowledge to the young audience in talks, workshops and Q&As. The topics are diverse: pop culture, lifestyle and tech. But it's also about net politics, activism and science.
The non-profit TINCON is sponsored by partners and supporters. And we also rely on helping hands to implement the conferences for digital youth culture. With the help of volunteers, we not only successfully implement TINCON together, but also enable all young people and young adults to attend free of charge - also for those who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
Your Tasks
We’re looking for volunteers to help us with a shift of about six hours before or during TINCON Hamburg on the grounds of the Museum für Arbeit / Zinnschmelze. In return for their volunteer work, each volunteer will receive a TINCON T-shirt and meals on the day of their shift. And, of course, volunteers can enjoy TINCON during the event.
We’re looking for volunteers in these areas
- Setup/Teardown/Tech: You’ll support our team on-site with setting up, rearranging, and taking down TINCON. Whether it’s setting up decorations or designing the stage—the main thing is that you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting to work! It would be great if you had sturdy, closed-toe footwear (boots or work shoes) and clothing that can get a little dirty.
- Accreditation/Admission Control: You’ll be the first point of contact for TINCON participants. You’ll check tickets, hand out admission wristbands and program booklets, and make sure guests, speakers, and the press can find their way around the venue. This role is perfect for you if you enjoy interacting with people!

Runner: As a jack-of-all-trades, you’ll support our TINCON team wherever help is needed. You’re spontaneous and flexible, and you’re eager to get a taste of all areas of the festival.

Off-Stage, Gaming, and Workshop Support: You’ll help supervise the hands-on stations (e.g., Upcycling or Making Space), the gaming stations (e.g., Minecraft, GeoGuessr, VR games), and the workshops; answer questions; and support participants as they try out new technologies and creative formats.
