About the volunteering opportunity
At our assisted living facility, we’re looking for volunteers to help residents get from their living areas to the cafeteria.
Many of our residents use wheelchairs and can no longer make the trip to the cafeteria on their own. With your help, they can still enjoy what the cafeteria has to offer, spend time together, and enjoy ice cream or cake.

Your Tasks
- Accompany residents in wheelchairs from the various floors to the cafeteria using the elevator
- Assist them on the way there and back
- Provide residents with a sense of security and companionship during their visit to the cafeteria
- Chatting with residents and accompanying them during their time in the cafeteria
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Intermediate-level German (B1)
- Enjoy working with older adults
- Empathy, patience, and reliability
- Willingness to work with people in wheelchairs
A wheelchair certification is required. The necessary training will be organized by the volunteer management team.
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 2 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
- Regularly, once or twice a week
- Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- You’re welcome to volunteer on one or both days.

Das Pflegewohnheim „Dr. Günter Hesse“ bietet 80 Bewohner*innen mit den Pflegegraden I bis V ein Zuhause in Pankow. Die Bewohner*innen fühlen sich bei uns wohl und geborgen, dazu tragen unsere langjährigen Mitarbeiter*innen jeden Tag bei. Unterstützt werden sie dabei von vielen freiwillig Engagierten, die gern regelmäßig ins Haus kommen. Du wärst also nicht alleine im Freiwillgen-Engagement und kannst Dich mit anderen Freiwilligen und der Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort austauschen. Außerdem sind wir vom Team "die freiwilligen" im Unionhilfswerk jederzeit erreichbar und bieten kostenlose Kurse und Fortbildungen im Bereich Engagement für/mit älteren Menschen an.
