About the volunteering opportunity
Would you like to volunteer, take on responsibility and gain practical experience in organisation, teamwork and project management?
As part of one of our local coordination teams, you and your team make free tutoring possible for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in your city.
You can contribute according to your interests and strengths – for example by supporting volunteers, matching tutors with students, cooperating with schools and social organisations, or helping with communications and social media.
You will not be doing this on your own: You will work as part of a local team and receive support from StudyTutors at the national level.
Your Tasks
Depending on your local team and the distribution of responsibilities, you can contribute in different areas:
Volunteers
- Recruit new volunteer tutors in your city
- Conduct introductory meetings with new volunteers
- Support volunteers throughout their involvement
- Match tutors with suitable students
Students & partnerships
- Establish and maintain contact with schools, social organisations and other local partners
- Communicate with families and contact persons
- Coordinate new students and tutoring matches
Communications & outreach
- Help manage your local team's social media presence
- Plan local outreach and recruitment activities
- Increase awareness of StudyTutors at universities and in your city
You do not have to take responsibility for all of these areas. Tasks are divided within the local team and may vary depending on the location.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Enjoyment of organising and coordinating
- Reliability and initiative
- Motivation to work as part of a team
- Interest in taking responsibility for a social project
- Good German language skills
- Previous experience in volunteering, project management or nonprofit organisations is not required. We will help you get started.
Please note: Although some tasks can also be carried out in English, German language skills are necessary. Communication with volunteers, families, schools, social organisations and other local partners usually takes place in German.
After your initial meeting, you will need to apply for an extended certificate of good conduct (erweitertes Führungszeugnis). There are no costs for you, and we will explain how to apply.
